Sally Turner was born before 1814, daughter of William T. Turner and Lucy Ann Thurmond, because she required a guardian in 1835.1

On 16 February 1835, a Guardian's Bond was posted at Amherst County, Virginia, by Tandy Jones as guardian for Sally Turner, orphan of Wm. T. Turner, decd. In 1839, Wm. Kent was named her guardian.1

If I am reading the poorly-done abstract correctly, she may have died in 1841 because there is an inventory presented in court on 20 Feb 1841 for $1,887 by Jas. L. Lamkin and Thos. Hutchinson under her name.

An Administrator's Bond was issued for Wm. Kent on 15 Feb 1841 with Kent and David Staples as security. A funeral bill for $20 and legatees due $912.24 recoreded 1 Nov 1843 at Amherst County, Virginia.2

Samuel Turner was born before 1756, son of Stephen Turner and Sarah Spencer. Because he had to have been at least 21 years of age when he witnessed a deed in 1776.5,6,7

"Samuel Turner seems to me to have been the oldest of that name among the Amherst Turners, possibly named for Samuel Spencer."8

On 4 May 1776, Samuel was a witness to the conveyance between Nicholas Cabell and his wife Hannah to Stephen Turner, for 450 acres of both sides of Ivey Creek bounded by the lines of William Howard, Stephen Turner, Edward Bowman. Stephen paid 5 shillings. Witnesses were: Samuel Farguson, Terisha Turner (his brother), Samuel Turner, and Edward Harding. Ordered delivered to Charles Irving, 29 Sep 1778 at Amherst County, Virginia Colony.7

Samuel B. Turner was born in 1802, son of Samuel Turner and Sarah Farrar Spencer, in Amherst County, Virginia.4

Samuel married Edith E. Evans. I cannot find a marriage record in Virginia or elsewhere as of 11 May 2021. In addition, I have studied each page of the Amherst County Marriage Register from 1768-1900 without finding this marriage. The marriage registers of Nelson County are all locked and can only be viewed after the pandemic in a FamilySearch-affiliated library.5

On 29 July 1829, Samuel Turner's will does not mention a wife so she may have predeceased him. It names E. A. Cabell, Jr. and P. C. Cabell, as trustees for Mary D. Turner, daughter of my son, Jno (John). The division of three tracts is shown as:
          1. James River into three tracts and Tye land into three; plat on 282,204 acres;
          2. Mansion house tract on Tye; 699 acres.
          3. Luck Mt. 264 acres. Luck Mt. was not so valuable, but has compensations. James River tract shows lines of Geo. Staples, Jas. Dillard, Mundy, Chas. S. - -.
Children and legatees: William S., Jno. R., Saml, and Nathan Turner, Jno Dillard who married Nancy Turner, Edwd. A. Cabell as trustee of Stephen Turner, Peyton Keith as guardian of Jeff. Turner; Lot 1 or upper river tract to Nathaniel Turner; middle tract drawn by Jno Dillard; lower river to Saml. Turner; mansion house by Peyton Keith as guardian of Jefff. Turner; middle mansions tract to Jno. F. Turner; Tye River to Edwd. A. Cabell as trustee of Stephen Turner; Luck Mt. drawn by Wm. S. Turner, November 9, 1829. Henry H. Watts, Jno. Dillard, St., Lindsey Coleman. Next plat of James banks about two miles below Staples; Mill and directly at upper end of Dillard's Island; joins Geo. Staples, Jas. Dillard, Chas. Mundy. Plat -- all in Amherst County except small portion of northeast corner in Nelson; both sides Tye and Camp Creeks. Joins Edwd. A. Cabell, Peyton Keith, Terisha Turner, Jno. Dillard, Mrs. Sophia Crawford. Luck Mt; head br. of Horsley and south border of Buffaloe. Joins Jno Flood, Jno. Burks, Godfrey Toler, Wm. Dempsey, Benj. Sandidge, deceased -- about 1 1/2 miles from Buffaloe Springs. Executors were William Turner and John Turner, sons, and son-in-law John Dillard. Witnesses were Jas. Powell, Peyton Keith, and Lucy R. Spencer.6,7,8

On 29 July 1829, he is named in his father's will and was to inherit the "lower river tract.1

On 12 May 1830, Samuel B. Turner conveyred to Jno. F. Turner for $1,000 a tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Amherst on James River, being the same land being alloted to him by his fathers will, laid off by commissioners the said land bounded by John Dillar(d) on the west, by James River on the south, by Charles Monday on the East and North at Amherst County, Virginia. Witnesses: Payton Keith, William S Turner and John (his mark) Profitt.3

On 18 November 1850, Samuel B. Turner provided security for the marriage bond of Sarah Ann Turner, his daughter, and Roland S. Bias at Amherst County, Virginia.9,10

There were four children enumerated in the 1860 census within Samuel B. Turner's household which appear to be his grandchildren: L D (Lutcher Dudley), age 6; Virginia, age 3; Amanda, age 3; and, Bettie, age 3/12. Bettie was not enumerated on the 1870 census. In 1880, Louana, age 22; and, Mildred, age 20 were enumerated, but I am not sure if they are Virginia and Amanda????11

Samuel B. Turner died on 15 November 1890 in Pedlar, Amherst County, Virginia,

I am unable to find a will or estate administration for him as of 6 Nov 2020,12,13 and was buried in Turner Cemetery, Pedlar, Amherst County, Virginia.14

Samuel C. Turner was born circa February 1860, son of John Preston Turner and Rachel E. Sowell, in Texas.2,1

Could this be the Samuel M. Turner who married F. A. Wade on 24 Oct 1878 in Guadalupe County, Texas? The middle initial is different and the witnesses were a Julia Turner (?) and Wm Murell.3

I cannot find him in the 1880 or 1900 census. There is only one Samuel Turner born in 1860 living in Colorado County, Texas with a wife, Lizzie in 1880, but, he is Black. There just aren't any other Samuel Turners born in Texas who were enumerated in either year.

I cannot find any death information anywhere or burial information on Find A Grave as of 2 Oct 2019.

Samuel Francis Turner was born on 21 June 1849, son of Samuel J. Turner and Frances A. Hutcheson, in Amherst County, Virginia.1,2

On 16 June 1872, Samuel was a bondsman, along with his brother, Stephen H. Turner; S. J. Turner for a Collection Bond at Amherst County, Virginia.3

On 1 May 1873, Samuel was a bondsman, along with his brother, Stephen H. Turner; Thos. J. M. Goodwin; Thos. A. Brown; and Wm. H. Kent for a Collection Bond at Amherst County, Virginia.4

Samuel, 24, married Sally Beck Gough, 15, daughter of William Gough and Anna Mary Beck, on 27 January 1874 in Lynchburg, Virginia.1

On 15 June 1874, Samuel was a bondsman, along with his brother, Stephen H. Turner; S. J. Turner for a Collection Bond at Amherst County, Virginia.5

On 16 June 1879, a bond was posted on the behalf of Samuel Francis Turner as Treasurer of Amherst County by Saml. J. Turner (his father); S. F. Turner (his brother); S. J. Bailey; Jno. R. Maben; C. Pettyjohn; Jos. R. Massie; Chas. Mundy; and B. P. Morris in Amherst County, Virginia.6

On 29 June 1883, a bond was posted on his behalf as Treasurer of Amherst County by Henry Loving Jr; S. F. Turner (his brother); A. H; S. J. Turner (his father); W. R. Watson; Jos. H. Massie; Jesse E. Adams; W. J. Howl; Jno B. Robertson in Amherst County, Virginia.7

I think there may have been a son named Ossie B. Turner, born May 1886 in Virginia. He was enumerated in 1900 living with Lula T. (his sister) and her husband, but he is listed as a son-in-law which makes no sense. However, Ossie B. was enumerated with her husband G. W. L. Sanford in 1910???8

On 27 June 1887, he was not named in his father's will of this date.9

Samuel Francis Turner died on 25 February 1934 at age 84 in Concho, Fayette County, West Virginia,2,10 and was buried in Saint Lukes Episcopal Church Cemetery, Pedlar Mills, Amherst County, Virginia.2
