In 1850, I can't even find him in Pike or surrounding counties, Missouri, under either Buchanon or Buchanan in this census as of 30 Nov 2020.
Thomas Buchanon married Sophia Turner, daughter of Nathaniel H. Turner and Elizabeth P. Woodroof, on 16 April 1856 at the home of John Turner in Louisiana, Pike County, Missouri.1
I have had no luck finding them in the census anywhere from 1860-1880 as of 30 Nov 2020.

John brought his family, including his adult sons, to northern middle Tennessee by 1800. Some of his sons settled in what became Robertson County and some in Sumner County. The source for this information prefers to remain unidentified.
