Sophronia M. Johnson married (--?--) Moss in 1852. I have been unable to find a marriage record for them. This marriage did not occur in Granville County.

There was a Witson Frank Moss who lived in Stanley County, North Carolina who was married to Sophronia Howell. They were the parents of ten known children. They were enumerated in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census in Stanly County. There are a number of marriage records for their children - all in Stanly County. I briefly confused this couple with Sophronia Johnson and her first husband, (–?–) Moss.1,5

In the November 1859 Term of Court at Warren County, as a result of a petition by the heirs of Jacob Davis, his slaves were ordered to be divided into six shares between Mrs. Rhoda Davis; John H. Fleming and wife Nancy P; Thaddeus B. Rowland and wife Mary T; James E. Pattillo and wife Winifred; Howell R. Moss and wife Dionisia; and Mrs. Sophronia Moss. This proves Rebecca Johnson was already deceased with Sophronia her only heir. It also proves Mr. Moss was also deceased by Nov 1859.

On 2 Dec 1859, the division was filed with the court.6

Sophronia M. Moss married George H. Homes, son of William Homes and Susan (--?--), on 15 June 1865 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. She was a widow.3,7
