Mary Elizabeth Carter was born on 22 August 1850, daughter of John T. Carter and Phoebe Ann Turner, in Tennessee.1,3
Mary Elizabeth Carter died of illiocolitis with a contributary cause of senile psychosis on 11 July 1922 at age 71 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. Although her death certificate stated she was buried 12 Jul 1922 in Gallatin, I could find no burial record in Sumner County, Tennessee for her.3

The cemetery is about 100 feet south of the road on the former Mitchell Moore property. Buried in the same cemetery are Richard Moore 12 Nov 1890 - Jul 7 1914 and Johnetter Mitchel, daughter of Major W. & Catharine Mitchel 23 Jan 1849 - 27 Jun 1870.1,2

William and Jane R. Turner obtained a marriage bond on 15 November 1830 in Nelson County, Virginia.5,6,7
William H. Carter married Jane R. Turner, daughter of Francis W. Spencer Turner and Mary E. Harris, on 17 November 1830 at Nelson County, Virginia, with Edward L. Warren officiating at the ceremony.1,8
On 10 June 1841, Francis W. S. Turner's will, he names his "beloved wife Mary E. Turner; his daughter Jane R. Carter, wife of William H. Carter; son, William A. Turner; son, Joseph H. Turner; and son, Francis S. Turner. His friend, N. F. Cabell, was named Trustee for daughter, Sarah F. Cu(unreadable. but Curd), and children. Executors were William A. Turner, Francis S. Turner and Joseph H. Turner. H. B. Scott, Samuel Scott and Isham T. Smith were witnesses.9
William H. Carter died of Liver Disease on 28 January 1877 in Nelson County, Virginia. The informant was his son, Otho W. Carter.2
