Mary J. Clay married Horace A. Rowland, 23, son of Thaddeus B. Rowland and Mary T. Davis, on 18 August 1853 in Henderson County, Kentucky. She is listed as Mary J. Barbour on the marriage bond, but as of 11 Oct 2016 I have been unable to find a marriage record for her with a Barbour male that fits the time line. I've looked in all relevant states. The only one I found, that of a Mary J. Clay marrying Samuel G. H. Barbour, occurred in 1842 when this Mary was 5, based on her 1850 census enumeration.
I know her maiden surname was Clay based on the birth record of her daughter Lucy.3,1
Mary J. Clay died before 1 January 1865 when her husband remarried.4
