On 10 June 1841, he is named in his father's will of this date of which he's made an executor.1

Could he have had a son, Willy Joseph Turner, b. c1862 in Buckingham County, but living in Amherst County, who took out a marriage license on 8 Oct 1880 in Amherst County and married on 10 Oct 1880 Sarah Shrader, born c 1861 in Amherst to Daniel & Sarah Shrader. Willy is said to be the son of Wm. A and Mary Susan. Willy was a farmer.

I have found a number of references to the above William A. Turner, including in the 1870 and 1880 census, but I am having trouble believing this is a "right" connection, partly because he is shown with a sister, Mary, in the 1880 census. This man had a large family with some children born in Buckingham County, but he subsequently lived in Amherst County. I cannot find any record, marriage or death, which provides the name of this particular William A.'s father.

I have found another Wm. A. Turner, born c1815, living in Albemarle County but he was married to Dorothy (or Dolly) Johnson in the 1860-1880 census.

This man's brothers and at least one sister remained in Nelson County, Virginia, so it is hard to believe he would joined other Turners in Kentucky, Tennessee, or Missouri.2
