     Lucy Turner was born between 1786 and 1794, daughter of James Turner and Rebecca Hamner, because she required a guardian in 1807 and, therefore, was under the age of 21 and was between the ages of 16 and 26 in the 1810 census.5,6

     On 24 November 1805, she is named in her father's will of this date.3,7

     On 17 November 1807, a Guardians Bond was posted by John Graves, Joseph Shelton, David S. Garland, Dabney Carr, Ro. Anderson on behalf of John Graves as guardian of Lucy Turner, orphan of James Turner, deceased Amherst County, Virginia.8

     Lucy Turner and John Graves obtained a marriage bond on 17 November 1807 in Amherst County, Virginia, with Robt. Garland as security and S. Garland as witness.9,2

     Nelson County was created from Amherst County on 25 Dec 1807, with the county government forming the next year.

     On 2 April 1812, 100 acres of land appearing to be a part of James Turner's estate considered as residual and not specifically designated in his will, but left to his daughters in an undivided interest was sold to William Hamner for $500 in Nelson County, Virginia,

     The deed abstract reads: Teril (Terisha) Turner and wife, Polly; Leonard Phillips and wife, Eliza; Page Daniel (Dameron) and wife, Susannah; Henry Rittenhouse and wife, Patsey; Jno. Graves and wife, Lucy; Jesse Joblin and wife, Rebecca; Nancy; Mildred and Judith Turner conveyed to William Hamner of Albemarle. Leod. Phillips is later called Zach Phillips and Daniel is Dameron in the confusing deed . . $500; 100 acres. Lines: Cove Creek, Benj. Payne, Matthews, Saml. Anderson, mill tract. Witnesses: Saml., Henry, Terisha and Wm. Turner, Wm. H. Leigh. These signatures appear: Little Page Dameron, Henry Rittenhouse, Jno. Hopling, Susannah Dameron, Leanna Phillips, Jno. Groves, Polly Turner, Mildred Turner, Nancy Turner, Rebecca Jobling, Lucy Graves, Patsy Rittenhouse, Judith Turner.10,11

     I could not find them in Nelson County in 1820 and there were too many John Graves enumerated that year in Virginia in different counties for a reasonable search.
