Andrew Knowling married Anne Twigden, daughter of William Dicken, after 1610.
On 2 June 1634, a Final concord between David Battison and John Battison, querents, and Andrew Knowlinge, gent. and Anne, his wife, devorciants, concerning one messuage, one garden, one cottage, one dovecote, two gardens, two orchards, thirty-five acres of arable land, eight acres of meadow, twenty-four acres of pasture, two acres of woodland, and six acres of heath, with commons of pasture for all animals, in Creaton Magna and Creaton Parva. Consideration, £100. (Feet of Fines, Northamptonshire, Trinity Term, 10 Charles I.)".
"With this evidence connecting Andrew Knowling and his wife Anne with Creaton Parva, in Northamptonshire, there can no longer be any question that his wife anne was the widow of John Twigden of Creaton Parva and that this Fine shows the disposal of their property in Great and Little Creaton in 1634."1
Andrew Knowling left a will dated on 18 June 1635. Andrew Knowling's will of this date names a son-in-law, William Roades, and three daughters-in-law (probably step-daughters): Elizabeth Fitzherbert, Susan Billing, deceased, and Amphillis Washington.
Andrew Knowling left his freehold lands in Tring to Lawrence Washington, son of Amphillis. He also named John, William, Elizabeth, Margaret, and Martha, five other children of hers and appointed John Dagnall of Gove, in the parish of Tring, yeoman, his overeseer.
The parish register of Tring reveals that the father of these children was Mr. Lawrence Washington. University records reveal that there was only one Mr. Lawrence Washington, Master of Arts, alive in England and he was the Fellow of Brasenose College, Oxford.2
Andrew Knowling was buried on 21 January 1649/50 in Tring, Hertfordshire, England. The regster reads: Andrew Knolling was burd this xxi of January 1649.3,4

David Kyle was born between 1761 and 1770, son of Robert Kyle.4
He also is reported to have been born before 1752.5
David Kyle married Elizabeth Chambers. I have not found a single record to supply even her first name, much less her surname. The cited book states only "one of the three daughters married a Rowland, another, probably Jane married an Irvine; and probably a third who married a Higgenbotham."5
On 27 April 1780, 190 acres were surveyed for David in Buckingham County, Virginia.6
On 23 October 1788, he signed the petition of inhabitants of Buckingham asking that the Town for Inspection of tobacco be established on the lands of Nicholas Cabell in Amherston the North side of James River just below the mouth of Swann Creek at Buckingham County, Virginia.7
On 23 October 1788, David signed the Petition of John Benning to the General Assembly stating fact in the case of Peter May, under sheriff for John Johns:
Petition of John Benning to the General Assembly stating facts in the case of Peter May, under sheriff for John Johns. Peter May allegedly collected money for taxes due the Commonwealth but failed to pay the taxes or turn the money over to John Johns. John Benning, Charles May, and William Meredith were securities for Peter May. Johns obtained judgment for Peter May and securities forconsiderable sum due for arrears of taxes for the year 1784. The judgment was served in part upon the petitioner and Charles May. Petitioner shows that Peter May, Charles May, and William Meredith combined together to defraud him by running away with their property in an attempt to come under the protection of the Spanish Government. The petitioner along with the current Deputy Sheriff and one W. Winfrey pursued and overtook Peter May in North Carolina, took the said property of Charles May and brought it back to Buckingham and sold it. Proceeds will pay about 200 pounds of the execution. John Benning further states that the Mays and Meredith have no property except lands that they are now attempting to sell for cash. He feels that these men may clear out altogether and leave him to pay the balance which would be about 6 or 700 pounds. John Benning asks that the Assembly take the case under consideration and offer him some relief from the judgment against him.8
On 24 October 1788, David signed the petition for the repeal of an act passed by the General Assembly 1786 entitled "An Act imposing new taxes" at Buckingham County, Virginia.9
He lived in Buckingham County, Virginia, probably on the home farm, where he held property. The plat book for 1762 to 1848 is locked and unavailable to me. But, using a later copy with plats surveyed from 1783-1799, I found three.6,10,11
On 16 November 1789, a second petition to the General Assembly, requesting relief from difficult economic conditions was signed by David at Buckingham County, Virginia.12
On 25 November 1789, a survey was made for David of 250 acres in Buckingham County, Virginia, joining the lines of Mr Robt Kyle and David Kyle.10
On 30 October 1790, sundry inhabitants, including David Kyle, of Buckingham County petition the General Assembly to repeal an act previously passed allowing a town by the name of Greensville to be established near the courthouse on lands owned by John Cox. At that time it was felt that the establishment of a town would attract industrious mechanics and tradesmen and would be of service to the community. The residents find that industrious citizens can easily acquire fertile lands on the western waters and that all hopes for a considerable inland town must be postponed. The petitioners believe that the buildings and tavern at the courthouse owned by John Cox, deceased, will continue to serve the residents and strangers sufficiently if operated in the same manner as Mr. Cox had done previously.13
On 13 March 1791, a survey was made for David Kyle of 650 acres which included 250 acres surveyed on 25 Nov 1789 with the residue surveyed (this date), all of which was within Buckingham County, Virginia.11
On 7 November 1791, He signed a petition wherein a number of Freeholders in Buckingham County show the General Assembly of Virginia that an Inspection of tobacco at the mouth of Bent Creek in this county will be of infinite utility - it being the most eligible situation on the river between Lynchburg and Warminster with an easy road for conveyance of produce from the adjacent counties (to wit) Campbell, Prince Edward, Charlotte, and Amherst. The petitioners ask that an act be passed for erecting warehouses at the mouth of Bent Creek on the lands of John Horsley.14
On 7 November 1791, David signed a petition of a number of inhabitants of the County of Buckingham is included with the aforementioned petition of trustees concerning the act for establishing a town called Greensville. The petitioners ask that the act be repealed since they neither believe it practical to build a town on the lands.15
On 15 October 1792, he signed a petition stating that at the last session of the Assembly a warehouse location was established on the lands of John Horsley in Buckingham near the mouth of Bent Creek on Fluvanna River. A ferry across Fluvanna River from the lands held by Zacharias Talleforo, in right of his wife's dower, across the river to the land of John Horsley in Buckingham County would be of great convenience to travellers as to those bringing produce from Amherst side to the warehouses. The petitioners ask that a town be established on the lots already laid out by Jno Horsley and as many acres added thereto as the assembly should deem meet and just.16
On 15 November 1794, David signed a petition of residents of Buckingham to the General Assembly asks that the lands of the Glebe in Tilloston Parish be disposed of and the money arising from the sale be used for payment of parish levies or any purpose deemed proper.17
On 7 December 1799, he signed a petition of Clarke and Patteson (no first names given), inspectors at Horsley's Warehouse in Buckingham County request an increase in annual salary for the two inspectors. The petition also shows that the two inspectors were not paid their full salary in 1793 and 1794 because the crops of tobacco were short in those years. The petition further states that since 1794 the said inspectors have received a sufficient quantity of tobacco to discharge their salaries and put a surplus into the treasury. The petitioners ask that the deficiency in salary for Clarke and Patteson for 1793 and 1794 now be allowed them out of the surplus money now on hand.18
