William McMahon Jr was born on 12 January 1878 in Texas. He was the son of William McMahon and Elizabeth Francis.1,2

William registered for the draft on 12 September 1918 at Bandera County, Texas. He was 40 years of age, a Farmer, married to Minnie Lee and is described as being of medium height, medium build with light blue eyes and gray hair.

Due to a need for men to serve during World War I, the United States instituted a draft. Obviously, not everyone who was registered for the draft was drafted or served in the military.

With no end in sight for the end of World War I, a third and final registration law was instituted which now included all men between the ages of 18 and 45 which added younger men that the previous registrations laws and an older group of men born between 1873 and 1900, meaning he had to register.1

Francis Marvin Meriwether was born on 5 May 1877, son of Joseph Daily Meriwether and Laura Minor Turner, in Parkville, Platte County, Missouri.1,2

He was married to Laura Jane Markwell (1877-1939).2

Francis Marvin Meriwether died on 12 September 1935 at age 58 in Slater, Saline County, Missouri,2 and was buried in Riverview Cemetery, Louisiana, Pike County, Missouri. "Died: At his home in Slater, Thursday, September 12, 1935 at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 7 days. Funeral services will be held from the Hill Brothers Funeral Home Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Linus Eaker. Funeral cortege will dive to Louisiana Sunday morning for burial.
Frank M. Meriwether, a veteran of 36 years service on the Chicago & Alton Railroad, passed away at his home in Slater Thursday afternoon. Mr. Meriwether had been in poor health for the past two and one half years, but his death was unexpected and was a shock to his family and friends.
Mr. Meriwether went to work for the C&A in 1898 and moved to Slater after his marriage in 1899. Since that time he had lived in Slater and had been a quiet and unassuming citizen. Over two years ago he was suddenly taken ill while on his run to Kansas City, since that time had been in very poor health and had not been able to work. Mr. Meriwether had been in fairly good health for the past few weeks, he was recuperating from a recent operation, but aside from that he has been in very good health. Three weeks ago he left on a trip to Louisiana, Labelle, Hannibal and Eolia, which time he spent in the home of relatives. He returned to this home Thursday afternoon on Alton train Number 21. After his arrive in Slater he went immediately to his home. Arriving there he removed his coat and lay down across his bed, and it is thought that he passed away immediately. Mrs. Meriwether was not at home at the time he died. A niece, Miss Laura Grace Oliver, was at the home. When Mrs. Meriwether returned home a doctor was called who pronounced him dead. He was a member of the Methodist church, the Elks and the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
Frank Meriwether, son of J. D. & Laura Turner Meriwether, was born in Parkville, May 5, 1877, and passed away at his home in Slater, Thursday, September 12, 1935, at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 7 days. He was married to Miss Laura Markwell January 25, 1899 at Louisiana. To the home came one child, Oliver, who preceded his father in death November 14, 1931. He is survived by his wife, two brothers, J. D. Meriwether of Sacramento, Calif., and T. D.
