Frances Jane Cheatwood was born circa 1811, daughter of Daniel Cheatwood and Frances Philips, in Amherst County, Virginia.2
She also is reported to have been born circa 1815 in Virginia.4

Frances and William Spencer Turner obtained a marriage bond on 21 December 1829 in Amherst County, Virginia, with John Dillard as security and Jonas Pierce and Daniel. A. Cheatwood as witnesses.5,3

On 21 December 1829, Frances Cheatwood witnessed the marriage bond of her daughter, Frances Jane Cheatwood, and William S. Turner in Amherst County, Virginia.3 The Marriage Return was dated on 23 December 1829 by James Boyd.6

On 8 June 1851, she was named to administer her husband's will of this date.7

On 20 December 1851, she qualified as administrator of her husband's estate based on his will of this date at Amherst County, Virginia.8

Apparently, Frances J. Turner left a letter to her daughter Ann which was later construed as a will dated 20 Aug 1870. In this letter she said she'd been sick, suggested a trip to Louisiana with Bob Pendleton's wife who with Jake and her youngest child had been to see her, but she remarked that should couldn't "stand the trip." She also said they wanted her to go to Missouri. She drove down to see Add's (?) situation and to Sarah Ann's (?) to dinner and to Lynchburg.

She then said she "wished she was with you" (Ann) "or Mary" (her other daughter) giving as a reason she would rather live with a son-in-law than a daughter-in-law. Lewis (her son) says that he is going to leave. Went to Glen Wilton. Julia will be better satisfied if they leave and get a new home & job. Jno. and Mary will stay with me, if they move, and will stay with me as long as I live. You and Mary are to have everything. Lewis has a horse and all that he wants. She then speaks of Lewis' children. Sally (?) is here and her pretty baby. Maud (?) nurses. Annie Watts (?) & Sallie Dillard (?) came to see her yesterday "& I thought Sally's baby prettier than Mattie's". Hiram (also a son) came by to see us. Riar (?) has been sick & takes her mother's death quite hard.
(Signed) Your loving mother, Fr. J. Turner.

This document was probated 16 Mar 1891 and contested by W. H. Turner and Jno. C. Shrader going to court on 18 May 1891 . The Amherst County judge disqualified himself so the case was heard before Thos. J. Kirkpatrick, special judge. Evidence was given by W. T. Dillard; E. B. McGinnis; Jesse Weekley as to the handwriting. Motion of Jno. Q. A. Dillard as to Jno. P. Beard, Sheriff, to administer. It was noted Frances had been dead more than 30 days.

The abstract by the author leaves a lot to be desired. I hope I understood it. I am unhappy that I cannot find anyway to access Will Book 23 for verification purposes.9

Frances married Jefferson Daniel Turner, son of Samuel Turner and Sarah Farrar Spencer, in Amherst County, Virginia. After Frances' husband, William S. Turner's, death, she married his brother, Jefferson Daniel Turner, who had been married to a Mary Watts Cheatwood, daughter of Francis Cheatwood, possibly a cousin of Frances'.

I have been unable to find a marriage record for them as of 4 Feb 2021.2

Frances Jane Turner died on 25 January 1890 in Amherst County, Virginia.2
