She was the daughter of Marcus "Mark" Irvin Dickerson (1846-1918), a native of Cobb County, Georgia, who migrated to Texas following the Civil War after serving in the Confederace and Susan Artamisia "Missy" McDonald (1854-1892) who was born in Guntown, Lee Countym, Mississippi, but whose family moved to Elmo following the Civil War.2

     Emma Valula Dickerson, 40, married Norman Bedford McMurry, 49, son of James Allen McMurray and Emily Villosa Turner, on 10 March 1922.1

     Emma Valula McMurry died on 21 July 1963 at age 81 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas,2 and was buried in Grove Hill Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.2
