Thomas C. Williams was born circa 1829, son of Francis Williams and Martha Turner, in Warren County, North Carolina.2,3

There's a problem here: I found a Thomas Calvin Williams in Halifax County who turns out to be the son of Joseph John Williams who left a will dated 13 Apr 1833 to this effect which was proven in May Court 1833.

Therefore, I may have this man tied to the wrong parents!4

Thomas C. Williams married Virginia Pryor Boyd, 19, on 17 October 1848 in Warren County, North Carolina. I am unsure about this marriage because of the small amount of detail in the index.5

Thomas C. Williams died before 14 July 1860. When his wife was enumerated as Head of Household in the census.

Find A Grave does not have a burial listing for him as of 4 Feb 2019.6

James M. Williams was born circa 1817, son of Francis Williams and Martha Turner, in North Carolina.2

On 29 December 1826, he is named in the will of his grandmother, Ann Williams, who leaves him a Negro Sidney and he must pay unto his sisters, Nancy and Mary Williams the sum of $50 each.3

James M. Williams married Martha A. (--?--). I've found was in Surry County, Virginia for a marriage between John M. Williams and Martha Delk on 2 Nov 1843. And a marriage record for a James Williams and Martha Williams on 9 Oct 1837 in Wake County, North Carolina. No similar marriage occurred within Warren County or other nearby counties. None of these seem likely.

Other North Carolina marriages for a John (middle initial either T., P. or none) Williams to a Martha occur in Cumberland, Guilford, Wake counties, North Carolina. There are several Mecklenburg County, Virginia marriages but none seem likely.4

James M. Williams died before 15 June 1880 when he was not enumerated and his wife was living in her son's household.

Find A Grave does not have a burial listing for him as of 29 May 2019.5

I've found several John W. Williams enumerated in the 1850 census: Rockingham County, Cleveland County, and Montgomery County, North Carolina. None with the right initials in Warren County.

On 10 October 1850, he was named one of the executors of his mother's will of this date at Warren County, North Carolina.1

Multiple John W. Williams married in Warren County during the right period of time:
John W. Williams to Mary Camilla Holt on 17 Nov 1859
John W. Williams to Bettie R. Pitchford, 5 Nov 1860
John W. Williams to Sarah T. McCraw, 25 Oct 1866
John Williams married Isabella Price on 3 Jul 1867.

I've also found a burial page on Find A Grave for a John W. Williams, born 26 May 1824 (which fits), died 3 Jul 1902, buried in Lick Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Denton, Davidson County, North Carolina. This man's wife was Judy Varner (1827-1905). There's insufficient proof that this is the right person at this time.2

Lula G. Allen was born circa 1865, daughter of Canova Allen and Martha A. Royster, in North Carolina.1

On 18 September 1890, Lula's suit against John H. Royster, administrator of her mother's estate, was docketed for the North Carolina Supreme Court. The original suit was filed 14 Oct 1888 in Granville County against J.H. Royster, R. M. Royster and W. A. Bobbitt.

The case was tried at April Term 1890 of Granville Superior Court with the plaintiff offering in evidence the inventory and account of Sales returned by the administrators and filed. Evidence was given of self-dealing by the administrator. In reading over the case as tried, it appears the Judge consistently ruled in favor of the defendants, as did the jury. Lula filed an appeal to the Supreme Court explaining "by reason of her poverty she is unable to make the deposit or to give the security required by law for said appeal." A local attorney agreed that the verdict was 'contrary to law.'

Apparently, the suit was over the $400 bond paid to ensure the propriety of the administrator. There was enough money in her mother's estate to pay her just debts, as well as leave something to Lula. However, the amounts from her mother's estate were never returned to Lula.

The result of her appeal to the Supreme Court of North Carolina was she was granted a new trial back in Superior Court.2
