John Pitts and Sarah Stovall obtained a marriage bond on 11 November 1809 in Sumner County, Tennessee, with William Stovall, probably the bride's brother, as bondsman.1,2

I cannot find him in any census enumerations (found a John Pitts in Kentucky, but this doesn't seem logical). Given that I found a Sarah Pitts in Hickory County, Missouri, I tried searching the Missou census substitutes and territorial census with no success. I suspect he died before the 1850 census if the Sarah I found was, indeed, his wife.

He and his wife are said to have moved to Hickory County, Missouri based on a church record, but no evidence or citation was produced.
