Clyde James Lemons was born on 1 April 1906 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina. He was the son of Walter and Mary Lemons.1,3

Clyde and Julia Etta Turner obtained a marriage license on 22 December 1927 in Forsyth County, North Carolina.1

Clyde James Lemons, 21, married Julia Etta Turner, 24, daughter of Charles Ellis Turner and Montana Ording Moore, on 22 December 1927 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina, with Rufus T. Brantley, Clerlgyman, officiating.1

Clyde registered for the draft on 16 October 1940 at Mr. Airy, Surry County, North Carolina. He was 34 years of age, married and a farmer. He is described as 5' 8" in height, 147 pounds with blue eyes, brown hair and a light complexion.

The Selective Training and Service Act of 1940, also known as the Burke–Wadsworth Act, enacted September 16, 1940, was the first peacetime conscription in United States history. The Selective Service Act required that men who had reached their 21st birthday but had not yet reached their 36th birthday register with local draft boards. Later, when the U.S. entered World War II after Pearl Harbor, all men from their 18th birthday until the day before their 45th birthday were made subject to military service, and all men from their 18th birthday until the day before their 65th birthday were required to register.2

Clyde James Lemons died on 30 November 1993 at age 87 in Clemmons, Forsyth County, North Carolina,3 and was buried in Woodland Cemetery, Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina.3

Mary S. Harris was born circa 1854 in Virginia. According to the marriage information I found, she was the daughter of Mary A. Turner, but she married as May S. McCraw. There being no image, I am not sure of this.1,3 She was also known as Mollie.4

Mary married James B. Turner, son of George H. Turner and Lucinda Thomas. I cannot find a marriage record for them as of 31 Mar 2021.1,5,6

The Mary S. Turner who died on 19 May 1885 was 46 years of age making her year of birth c1839. This cannot be the right person. This woman's parents were Sam'l and Nancy Harris, according to the death register.2
