James Richard Smith was born circa 1865, son of Josiah Smith and Martha Jane Turner, in Missouri.2

On 8 January 1885, I suspect this was the James R. Smith who obtained a licence and married Maggie Bradley in Lincoln County with J. J. Bradley, Minister of the Gospel, officiating.

If this is correct, then he was born 22 May 1863, died 12 Sep 1929 and was buried in Elsberry City Cemetery, Elsberry, Lincoln County, Missouri with his wife Maggie.3,4
