Kate H. Turner was born circa 1861, daughter of John Calhoun Turner and Martha Lee Givens, in Paynesville, Pike County, Missouri.1,2,3

Kate married Eugene Smith, son of Daniel F. Smith and Eliza A. Greene, on 29 August 1888 in Philipsburg, Deer Lodge County, Montana.1

On 20 March 1896, Martha Lee Turner, in her will, names her sons: M. Reynolds Turner, Harry Turner and Reynolds Turner (?); and daughters: Kate Turner Smith, Mattie, Blanch and Ruby. She also names her "feeble-minded" daughter, Lillian B. Turner, with daughter Kate as her trustee. She appointed her son-in-law L. E. Mayhall as executor in Pike County, Missouri.4

I do not know how she met Eugene, or figure out how she ended up in Montana. I did find a Kate M. Smith married to Charles E. Smith living in Arapahoe County, Colorado, but that location didn't seem likely.

Kate H. Smith died on 2 March 1945 in Anaconda, Deer Lodge County, Montana.
Find A Grave does not have a burial listing for her as of 4 Jan 2019.5
